Catastrophe Response Services

 

Improving customer service is a goal for every company. At Roaring Brook, we try to improve our service on a daily basis through planning and personal conversations with our clients. We take our clients’ feedback and use it to help prepare ourselves for future projects with new and existing clients.

Advance preparation is very important when catastrophe strikes. Because we have been members of catastrophe response teams before, we knew to begin preparing when hurricanes began to develop this past hurricane season. As we watched the weather reports, we also discussed likely scenarios with our customers and started to assemble our response teams and tools.

When the hurricanes struck, we made sure we would be ready to go where and when we were needed, as quickly as possible and as efficiently as we could. "Where" became the Gulf Coast and southern Florida, and "when" became an extended period of time as multiple hurricanes struck these areas. The devastation was enormous. In the past we have been able to stay reasonably close to our inspection sites, but in the Gulf Coast area, our personnel initially needed to stay hours away because of power and other utility outages, closed hotels, and closed roads. They drove long distances daily to the sites they had been asked to inspect, and one by one, the inspections were made.

Information from the on-site inspections was returned to our South Berwick, Maine office. Here we have access to the tools we need to

 

 

prepare the inspection reports for our customers. Our support staff helps organize all aspects of this phase of the projects. We also have access to satellite photographs, flood hazard maps, and weather information, and can prepare flood and/or wind analysis reports as required by particular projects or customers.

Although many of us have been away from the office for catastrophe related work, we make it a point always to be accessible to our customers. Whether by phone or e-mail, we are available to answer any questions or to discuss any aspect of a project, whether it is prior to starting the project, during it, or after it is completed.
