Hurricane Katrina was one of the strongest storms to hit the U.S. within the last 100 years. After making landfall on August 29, 2005, Roaring Brook Consultants was called to help evaluate the storm damage on structures throughout the Florida, Mississippi, and Louisiana coastal areas. Our job was to conduct site inspections to determine the cause and scope of the reported storm damage. The evaluations took into account FEMA maps and information from NOAA's National Climatic Data Center on sustained wind velocities and surge levels. The photographs on this page reflect some of the storm damage in Louisiana and the extent of the havoc that Katrina wrecked on homes and businesses. Additional photographs of the damage can be viewed on the next pages 2, 3, 4. |
